RA2 :: Apocalypse Rising – Blog 165

Chronoshift!

Occult has been working on in-game effects for chrono-shifting objects. These will be used for things like the Chrono Miner and Chrono Legionnaire. We’ve strayed away from duplicating the RA2 effects to the book and used some artistic license to create a far more spectacular effect, seeing as the RA2 effects seemed a bit lackluster. Occult has gone and created something really special here, as you can see below.

Allied Beretta

Guy with a wrench has been texturing the Allied Beretta; the main side arm of the Allied Forces. Engineers and Technicians will be armed with this as a measure to ensure that they are able to defend themselves from ranged attacks.

Alpha 8 Patch 4

danpaul88 has released Alpha 8 Patch 4 to the testers. Here are the changes that have been made to this version of the AR.

MODDB Indie Game of the Year 2009 Awards

Just like in previous years, Bluehell Productions would like to ask for your help at the 2009 IGOTY at MODDB. As drunkill explained in his news post on the issue, nominations are now open for mod and indie-game candidates. Until January 7th, you can nominate as many projects as you’d like. Then, nominations will close and the Top 100 MOD’s and Top 100 Indie Games will be presented for the MOTY voting phase.

Every vote counts!

We would also like to suggest nominating other strong C&C related projects, to let the world know we’re still alive and kicking. C&C projects have always had a strong showing in this. My pick of the rest would have to be Renegade X, just for the sheer amount of work they’ve put in to recreate Renegade on the Unreal Engine. The feeling of nostalgia is something incredible and Fobby & crew are a good bunch of guys. So if you stop by their MODDB page, you may as well give them a vote.

Please note again that the MOD’s and indie games are handled in their own categories, so there are no reasons to hold back voting for other C&C MOD’s just because you want to have a strong vote for APB and AR.

Recruiting

We are looking for extra staff members to join our ranks!
At the moment we are looking for:

2d Artists

What we are looking for in a 2d artist, is someone who:

  • is enthusiastic about working with the BHP Apocalypse Rising Team.
  • has spare time.
  • will be active in the foreseeable future (aka we don’t want you running off).
  • is competent at creating their own 2d textures.
  • is over the age of 16 (we overlook this if you are what we assess to be a mature individual. This rule is known as the TruYuri rule).

PM One_Winged_Angel with your application stating why you would like to join the team along with any past experience. Please provide example textures, if you have any.

Renegade-X December Update

0.50 Release Incoming

The next update, dubbed 0.50, will be making it’s appearance Sunday, January 10, 2010. You can continue to play Renegade-X 0.40 until then.

Not only has the team been having a blast with the 0.40 beta, but we’ve been hard at work on the new build. This release will be a great way to propagate the mod for the annual Mod of the Year contest, as it will include a substantive amount of new content and fixes.

0.50 Feature List

Buildings: GDI Powerplant
Nod Powerplant
Weapons: Ramjet Rifle
Volt Autorifle
New & Improved Repair Gun
New & Improved Sniper Rifle
Characters: New & Improved Havoc
Maps: Walls
Under
Misc:

IRC Server Bot (thanks to Buzzer at MP Gaming)
New server client version
Scoreboard for end of game
PLENTY of glitch fixes
Renegade X Map Editor

0.50 will be Renegade X’s last Unreal Tournament 3 beta, so we are trying to pack it with as much content as possible. With the map editor, one will be able to make his or her own Renegade X maps.

We will then take some time to develop the standalone version of Renegade X for the Unreal Development Kit. We don’t know how long it will be until the standalone version of Renegade X is available, but we’re already hard at work on it. Until then, we will be organizing several events with the 0.50 version, and you will be hearing about them in later updates.

We’re sending a Commando!

The witty, rough n’ tough commando is back! Captain Nick "Havoc" Parker has finally made it into the remake. As the most badass Commando to ever join the Global Defense Initiative, Havoc wields the terrifying Ramjet rifle, threatening all who decided to join Nod.

Powerplants are back!

The new Powerplants are back for version 0.50. A powerplant supplies power to its respective base – when destroyed, all main defenses go offline, credit flow is reduced by 50%, and all weapon and vehicle prices increase by 200%. Better keep an eye on that Powerplant, losing it can mean losing your base!
