Ah, quite a few of us have been busy with a variety of exciting real life concerns. And, I suppose, some internet concerns for a few of us. Speaking of internet concerns, note that due to a sudden and unexpected error, a large amount of ranking data for the official server was lost. Our apologies for this, but Gamma draws nearer always and soon you will have a chance for a clean slate anyways. We are going to be working with Mp-Gaming to integrate our home page a bit better with the game and ranking status information, going forward, although this latest hiccup was unrelated to that and we'll give you more details later.

Feuerteufel is going to be away with family concerns, I have some family concerns of my own and will possibly be without internet in a couple weeks, Cuddling will probably be busy working with MIT (!) on game design, r34ch has some work to do, and a few other people are going to be (or already are) busy for a while.

That said, we are looking into the final bits and pieces we need for the first release of Gamma to be ready for the public. We've had a lot of delays due to broken network code and most recently an issue where the game just progressively slowed after combat-- every bullet fired made it worse until it was unplayable! These things have really bogged down testing and eluded bug fixing, for far too long. With both lag issues now squashed we can hopefully start to wrap up game play testing, get a feel for if the new naval system is worthwhile for inclusion, and put Gamma out the door.

Gamma looks a lot the same, don't expect it to suddenly be Crysis or anything. It does play a ton better though and is vastly more fun, and of course some graphics have been polished up here and there and ancient effects have been replaced for a more immersible experience. Hopefully it can start to sound better too. We still have a lot of recording to do for the new version, a lot of voice work, before it's considered ready.

We're currently reviewing where we stand to determine what's exactly left, and what maps will be included. We need a new crew of testers, too. By next weekend I hope we will have brought the new guys on board. I'm looking forward to some larger tests, and with any luck it won't take too long to get the new testers up to speed.

The main Soviet rifle you'll see in use, of course. Cheap, accurate enough, and effective against things that aren't tank armor. TheBeerinator is finishing up the texture work on it. Expect the Game Update with a bunch of updated shots and Gamma related gameplay teaser info sometime soon.
